Teacher Training in Your Studio

Time to build a successful teacher training:

  1. Structure. What type of training are considering? Who will lead the program? Are there certification standards you need to adhere to for your modality? This portion of your planning is vital to the success of your program and will inform all of your other steps.
     

  2. Audience. Who is your training for? Once you've defined your target audience you'll be able to establish how often your training will meet, the optimal hours, and the total duration of your program.
     

  3. Pricing. Now that you have your audience, you can set your price. Start by mapping out your costs. Be sure to include the use of your space, payroll, any printed materials and of course your marketing expenses. Once you've mapped out your expenses, and profit. Don't forget to account for early bird pricing to incentivize early registrations!
     

  4. Market early and often! Your marketing should adopt a multi-channel approach encompassing paid, print, social media, email and text marketing, and organic channels. Your marketing should also include blogs and video as well as shared content with any partners you might have. Be sure to establish your timeline for promotion as early as possible. I recommend having at least six months to market a high-ticket item like a training, with the bulk of the heavy lifting, so to speak, in the last three months.
     

  5. Stay ahead of the game. While you're in the training cycle, create a plan for your next training. This will help you to capture content (video testimonials for instance) and notice any gaps you want to modify going forward.
     

  6. Follow-up. After the training has ended, be sure to create systems to follow-up with your trainees. Ask for testimonials and find out if there are other offerings your graduates are interested in. Just because they finished one training with you, doesn't mean they won't sign up for another!
